West Palm Beach, the largest city in Palm Beach County, Florida, is also the county seat. It is situated west of Palm Beach, which is located on an island barrier across the Lake Worth Lagoon. In 2020, the city's population was 117,415. West Palm Beach is the hub of the Miami metropolitan region, which had a population of 6,138,333 in 2020. It became a city in November 1894, two years prior to Miami, making it the oldest incorporated municipality in the South Florida region.
